City guide - Hollywood

Relocating a business to Hollywood, Florida

Hollywood is Broward's third-largest city and its most underrated value play: downtown and beachfront retail, the I-95 corridor, and industrial space near the port and airport at rents below Fort Lauderdale's core.

Permitting in Hollywood

The City of Hollywood runs its own building division and plan review. Interior commercial alterations follow the standard sequence - zoning verification, plan review (building plus fire), permit issuance, inspections, certificate of occupancy or completion. Hollywood has historically offered reasonable review turnaround compared with larger neighbors, but anything touching the downtown or beach redevelopment areas can add design-review layers. Confirm whether your space sits in a community redevelopment agency (CRA) district - it can mean incentives, and it can mean extra approvals.
